About the Author
Dr. Billingsley is a finance professor at Virginia Tech University and is an award-winning teacher at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. His research, consulting, and teaching focus on equity valuation, risk management and derivatives-based strategies, and regulatory finance. In 2006 he published a financial analysis book with the Wharton School. In addition, his research has been published in refereed journals, including the Journal of Portfolio Management, the Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Management, the Journal of Financial Research, and the Journal of Futures Markets. As a consultant, Dr. Billingsley has served as an expert witness on equity valuation, capital cost estimation, and economic damages analysis. His consulting clients include BellSouth Telecommunications, the United States Telecommunications Association, LECG, Sprint and others. A CFA charter-holder, Dr. Billingsley has taught CFA examination review courses at multiple levels for the last 15 years throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. He is the author of Portfolio Management, Equity Investments and Alternative and Derivative Investments in Candidate Study Notes, Volumes 3 and 4.

Book was in excellent condition
Took this class at Berkeley extension program. The book is great it is a keeper. Learn how you can make your money work for you.
Used it for school. Was easy to understand.
Just used to the book for a few times for a summer course, but it was definitely helpful.
Worked for what I needed it for. It's absolutely boring, but that's finance.
Disorganized material and not thorough on many subjects. I have a similarly titled text from another author that is far superior and gets the point across easier, whereas this book has a lot of "fluff" and not much substance. Was required for a class but not much was learned from it.
This book can lead to bad financial decision making. There are several examples in this book where payments are multiplied by the number of periods. This is a big NO NO, because it violates the time value of money. That is, a dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow. Furthermore, the author's suggestions on how to picking stocks and bonds is a joke. For example (p481) “Don’t invest in stocks if you believe strongly that the market is headed down in the short run.†If portfolio money managers are unable to time the market, when why do the authors believe their readers will be able to? A better policy is to invest based on one’s risk tolerance and let the market determine the expected return.
This book was used in my personal finance class but while it was a good resource, it was not very detailed on certain topics.
