This book is Great. It helped me learn, so that I can better help my horse as she learns. Initially I stumbled through the book's format but once I understood the author was shifting through different methods and then circling back the book became a wealth of knowledge for me. I've read it through three times, so far, absorbing additional details as I've gain experience. If you really want to learn how to work a baroque style of horse in the classical methods this book will certainly guide you.
Beautiful photos. Practical applications are a bit old fashioned adn not clearly described (a lot of "pressure). However, very useful intro for those interested in the sport!
I loved this book! I normally use books like this as a sleep aid, but this one kept me awake and interested the whole way through. This guy has a very easy and straight forward way of explaining these complicated concepts as well as instructing the reader to watch for the horse's natural ability. Because the whip needs to be used on the legs of the horse for the more advanced moves, he constantly reminds the reader that these lessons need to be applied with patience and kindness, and to praise the horse for the slightest attempt.If you have a horse built for extreme collection and want to try something different, this book is for you.
Finally! A book on in hand training and how to take the movements from the ground to mounted training. And a real explanation of each step for teaching the Spanish Walk (among many other movements) to a green horse. This is a book we'll return to again and again.
A great book on work in-hand, which establishes a much closer rapport between horse and trainer. The text and photographs are clear for those who already have some understanding of the process. I really enjoy this book - continually!
I purchased this book to help me get started with this and finesse my basic in hand work. I found it confusing to some degree, but once developing some more knowledge through other outlets I then found this book excellent in advancing my skills. Not a first book for beginners, but definitely one worth having at hand!
